Unforgettable 10 Day Iceland Ring Road Trip
In July 2024 we headed to Iceland to take on the full ring road trip in 10 days with a packed itinerary featuring as many beautiful locations as we could possibly fit in - including the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. We hired a car from the airport and had pre-booked hotels around the entire country so knew where we had to get to by the end of each day and although some days involved around 300km driving, we stopped at enough places to really break it down and make it feel less of an issue.
What a spectacular trip and anyone wanting to do this trip I would recommend everywhere we stopped at. I have included all of the names of the locations we stopped at in the video.
We completed the route Clockwise, beginning in Reykjavik and heading north towards Snaefellsnes and then onto Akureyri before enjoying the Eastern Fjords and then the more popular south coast. Some of the highlights include Kirkjufell, Glymur Waterfall, Dettifoss, Stuðlagil Canyon, Stokksnes, Diamond Beach, Dyrhólaey Viewpoint and Skogafoss.
I hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed the trip!

In July 2024 I spent 10 days exploring some of the most beautiful parts of Iceland, from the Snaefellsness Peninsula to the impressive waterfalls of Skogafoss and Dettifoss. This is a short cinematic of some of the footage I captured on my trip... Went spent out nights at local hotels and guest houses as we explore the land of ice and fire. Incredible landscapes, volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls...

Hi Joe. I am always impressed by your videos. This was beautiful and no exception. What is impressive too is the officially recognised walking tracks, some of which pass through or on the edge of farmed land and presumably form part of ancient "Rights of Way". How incredibly blessed is the UK to have these paths preserved for new generations to enjoy.

The challenge is from Snowdon summit to Foel Fras summit, the getting to and from those points isn't included in the challenge, so it's actually 22 miles and more like 2800m total ascent, last time I did it I caught the train up Snowdon and descended Foel Fras via Llwytmor and Aber Falls which is the shortest descent back down to Aber Falls at just 4.3 miles, so that makes a total of 26.3 miles and 2800m of ascent including getting up and down at the start and end, always helps to make it as easy as possible as the actual challenge is already difficult enough! Also one last tip, the trigpoint on Foel Fras isn't the summit, the actual summit is about 70m away the trig point!

Tried to sleep on some carpet underlay, freezing, uncomfortable and getting bitten to death after 28 miles. Had to abandon the next day and go and die in a hotel then managed the last ten. Book was excellent Joe, thanks. Odd bit where I got confused but combined with OS map on phone worked well. Quite a few missing signs on the walk but book really made it all fine.
